Bringing in ELEMENTS of the earth into Fine Art
My “Elements” series is a creative blending of semi-precious stones and unique pieces of the earth with traditional fine art. I love finding and using things that were created by nature such as semi-precious stones and sea shells, using them in unique and creative ways.
“I’ve never seen anything like it” Is the biggest comment I get.
The semi-precious stones I use in my Elements series come from all over the world from various sources. Most of the stones I use have been collected throughout the year in order to work out my compositions and then incorporate them into my paintings.
Each semi-precious stone has individual properties generating energetically from the stone. The energy can be felt by wearing the stone, touching the stone and will fill your room where the art will hang.
I encourage people to touch the stones on the art to resonate with its properties. I include properties of the stones with the descriptions. Some stones are healing, energizing, loving, and calming. Some resonate with different chakras and evoke emotions.
I love working with and showcasing the unique beauty found in each semi-precious stone. I hope you enjoy these unique works as much as I enjoy creating them.
About this Piece: This table is intended to be a console table, behind a sofa or smaller entry table (yet I am sure where ever you have the perfect place in your home is great). As soon as I saw the size of the wood I knew that is what I wanted it to become. Yet, this project was 2 years in the making. Yet, I just had to have this wood when I found it. It was a woodworker my mom and I came across in Colorado who got it from Arizona. He, of course, had all the woodworking tools and know how and I do not. I got it back here to California and was a little stuck in working with it.
Yet, helped arrived. My friend Lee Newman (who I call “Uncle Lee”) and his wife “Auntie” Sheri came to visit it me in my home/studio here in California and he is excellent at carpentry. Having the art director background, which is my strength; concept and creativity, not execution and I’ll just be honest with your power tools and I do not get along. I shared with him my ideas and concept and he did the rest.
I had the most fun working with him on this project. He truly brought my vision together for this on this piece.
After he left my mom and brother helped put the rest together for me. Mom helped so much as well. You know moms without her help I’d not be where I am today nor would this table.
I have used Pin Legs to complete this piece, I wanted it to be a modern look with the metal to be another element with its sharp lines to complement the richness and earth elements of the wood and semi precious quartz pieces. In my mind, the legs didn’t distract from the focus of the beauty of the wood and stones, to me it almost looks like it is floating. This is one of my favorite pieces of my home décor series thus far.
This is a special piece to me for many reasons and my first like it. I hope you enjoy it, as it became a family project that I hope the energy and love that went into it will fill your home where you put it as well.
Quartz: These quartz points are rare points from Madagascar. I found them from my supplier in North Carolina where he goes to Madagascar for a lot of this stones. He is at this time unable to get me anymore. Making this such a unique one of a kind piece.
