Bringing in ELEMENTS of the earth into Fine Art
My “Elements” series is a creative blending of semi-precious stones and unique pieces of the earth with traditional fine art. I love finding and using things that were created by nature such as semi-precious stones and sea shells, using them in unique and creative ways.
“I’ve never seen anything like it” Is the biggest comment I get.
The semi-precious stones I use in my Elements series come from all over the world from various sources. Most of the stones I use have been collected throughout the year in order to work out my compositions and then incorporate them into my paintings.
Each semi-precious stone has individual properties generating energetically from the stone. The energy can be felt by wearing the stone, touching the stone and will fill your room where the art will hang.
I encourage people to touch the stones on the art to resonate with its properties. I include properties of the stones with the descriptions. Some stones are healing, energizing, loving, and calming. Some resonate with different chakras and evoke emotions.
I love working with and showcasing the unique beauty found in each semi-precious stone. I hope you enjoy these unique works as much as I enjoy creating them.
From the Artist:
This painting was special due to the age of the stones and fossils used for this painting. They date back 35-68 million years ago. I wanted to add numerous specimens in this piece to really appreciate the beauty that still exists here now in this day in age, to capture there unique beauty.
Dinosaur Bone: Fossilized bone. The organic cell structure has been replaces by minerals, most commonly silica. Agatized dinosaur bone is rare and highly prized. 68 million years old.
Agate: Protection, Strength, Harmony. Agate’s most noticeable properties overall are balancing yin/yang energy, courage, protection, healing, and calming. Agate is a stone of strength. It was used by the Ancients on the breastplates of armor to give warriors strength and make them victorious in battle. Energetically, it is considered to give strength in both battle and physically. Agate enhances creativity and strengthens the intellect, making it a beneficial stone for both students and artists. It is also known as a good luck stone. As a stone of harmony, one of the things agate does is balance yin/yang energy. Agate increases energy. However, because it is a grounding stone, it does not increase energy at all times, but rather enables bursts of energy as needed. In this way, agate is a conservation stone, and enhances longevity.
Ammonite: Is a very powerful healing fossil. Helps stimulate the life force “Chi”. Helps activate Kundalini and life path energy. Repels negative energy. Helps increase stamina and vitality. Helps with blood pressure problems, ears and lungs. Helps in aiding with depression.
They went extinct with the dinosaurs 65 million years ago. The extinction of the ammonites, along with other marine animals and non-avian dinosaurs, has been attributed to the K-Pg extinction event, marking the end of the Cretaceous Period. Ammonoids are an extinct group of marine mollusc animals in the subclass Ammonoidea of the class Cephalopoda. These molluscs are more closely related to living coleoids (i.e., octopuses, squid, and cuttlefish) than they are to shelled nautiloids such as the living Nautilus species. The earliest ammonites appear during the Devonian, and the last species died out during the Cretaceous–Paleogene extinction event.
