Elements Series; incorporating semi-precious stone and unique pieces of the earth in a creative way.

This painting is part of my mixed media “ELEMENTS” Series where I want to bring in elements on the earth into my art. I love nature, I love finding things that have been created by nature such as semi precious stones and other items from the earth.

I love working with and showcasing the unique beauty that you find in each semi precious stone. I work with mostly Grade A and B semi precious stones; sometimes I use the same stones that are in rough form before they are faceted that you see in a fine piece of jewelry.

Most of the stones I use have been gathered for a year in order to incorporate together into my art. I get them from all around the world from various locations and venders.

Each semi precious stone also has individual properties that generate energetically from the stones. This is by wearing the stone, touching the stones and by having them in a room in your home.

I encourage people to touch the stones on the art to resonate with the properties. I have included some of the properties of the stones in the description so you will be aware of their specific properties; some are healing, energizing, loving, calming, resonate with different chakras, and evoke emotions.

I hope you enjoy them as much as I love creating them.

From the Artist:

My inspiration for this painting comes from the tides that are ever changing, when the tide changes the elements of the beach so much where the water will rise on some rocks while keeping others sticking up among the waters surface.

Shell Beach in La Jolla, CA was my inspiration for this painting. There I am so amazed on how much the sea changes the landscape of that small beach. During low tide, the water receded and  you can see the rocks that cover the ocean floor, the sea creatures and anemones and so many details.I have watched people walk out on the rocks where the water didnt touch there feet. Then at high tide they become covered where you can only see them peaking out from the water when the ocean is in between waves, sometimes not able to see them at all.

That particular beach is quite amazing where when you first walk down the stairs to get onto the beach you are greeted with large rocks that you have to step over all pilled up among one another that the sea brought in. Sometimes more and sometimes less. Then other times of the year you go down and are greeted with sand at your feet instead.

So in this painting I wanted to have some of the rocks (agate pieces) to some be under water which I covered with a heavy medium to resemble the water over them while some are sticking out of the medium not effected by the rising water. I wanted to create more dimension and depth with this for the water.

Stones Used:

The large more 3 dimensional pieces are quartz, the slices are agate, the smaller rocks in the middle are marble and the smaller rocks by the quartz are Labradorite.

Quartz: Wonderful multi use stone. Enhances energy of all other stones and metals. Harmonious and powerful. Aids communication. Sign of Entire Zodiac.

Agate: Protection, Strength, Harmony. Agate’s most noticeable properties  overall are balancing yin/yang energy, courage, protection, healing, and calming.

Agate is a stone of strength. It was used by the Ancients on the breastplates of armor to give warriors strength and make them victorious in battle. Energetically, it is considered to give strength in both battle and physically.

Labradorite: Protects ones aura, keeps it clear, balanced, protected and free of energy leaks. Transforms intuition into intellectual thought. Symbolized the moon and helps one to advance to ascension. Also symbolic of the sun providing vitality and sense of self during transitions. Enhances patience. Sign of Sagittarius, Scorpio & Leo.

Marble – a “Metamorphic” rock, which means that it began its existence as another type of stone – usually limestone, and was changed into its present form and composition by various geological forces. It can be found in remarkable colors that vary from pure white and slightly translucent to black, being sometimes yellow, red, brown and green, frequently beautifully veined or clouded.

Marble is said to have a cleansing effect, beneficial for one’s blood and skin. It’s used extensively in Homeopathy and Naturotherapy as a balancing agent, said to enhance one’s serenity. It is considered to provide clarity and mastery of thought which makes it beneficial for states of meditation and contemplation. It is also said to allow for total recall of dreams.
