Bringing in ELEMENTS of the earth
into Fine Art
My “Elements” series is a creative blending of semiprecious stones and unique pieces of the earth with traditional fine art. I love nature. I love finding things that were created by nature such as semiprecious stones, shells an other items, some of which are millions of years old.
“I’ve never seen anything like it”
Most of the stones I use have been collected for a year in order to work out my compositions and then incorporate them into my paintings.
I get them from all around the world and from various vendors. Each semiprecious stone has individual properties generated energetically from the stone. The energy can be felt by wearing the stone, touching the stone and by having the stone in a room of your home.
I encourage people to touch the stones on the art to resonate with its properties. I include properties of the stones with the descriptions. Some stones are healing, energizing, loving, calming. Some resonate with different chakras and evoke emotions. These properties will fill your room where the art will hang.
I love working with and showcasing the unique beauty found in each semiprecious stone. I work with mostly Grade A and B semiprecious stones. Sometimes I use stones that are in rough form before they are faceted like a fine piece of jewelry. The semiprecious stones I use in my Elements series come from all over the world.
I hope you enjoy these unique works as much as I enjoy creating them.
From the Artist:
This painting was inspired by a day in the mountains when it is mid day and the summer light hits the clouds and water just right where it creates a glow around the clouds and among the top of the river. It’s one of those little moments in time where it hits just right and it just glows and sings.
I wanted to keep this painting more monochromatic to capture the simplicity of the stones and painting to give more of a calm, zen like feeling.
The sky on this painting comes from when I was painting in my mountain studio when I randomly glanced up out the window at the clouds. WOW……I saw the sun hit these clouds and how they were arranged and jumped up from painting to run upstairs on the balcony to capture these clouds at that moment. They were amazing. I then went back down stairs and painted this sky as soon as I could. Great timing. It was fun as an artist to have such a great view in order to capture those amazing skies.
Agate: Protection, Strength, Harmony. Agate’s most noticeable properties overall are balancing yin/yang energy, courage, protection, healing, and calming.
Agate is a stone of strength. It was used by the Ancients on the breastplates of armor to give warriors strength and make them victorious in battle. Energetically, it is considered to give strength in both battle and physically.
Agate enhances creativity and strengthens the intellect, making it a beneficial stone for both students and artists. It is also known as a good luck stone. As a stone of harmony, one of the things agate does is balance yin/yang energy. Agate increases energy. However, because it is a grounding stone, it does not increase energy at all times, but rather enables bursts of energy as needed. In this way, agate is a conservation stone, and enhances longevity.
Marble – a “Metamorphic” rock, which means that it began its existence as another type of stone – usually limestone, and was changed into its present form and composition by various geological forces. It can be found in remarkable colors that vary from pure white and slightly translucent to black, being sometimes yellow, red, brown and green, frequently beautifully veined or clouded.
Marble is said to have a cleansing effect, beneficial for one’s blood and skin. It’s used extensively in Homeopathy and Naturotherapy as a balancing agent, said to enhance one’s serenity. It is considered to provide clarity and mastery of thought which makes it beneficial for states of meditation and contemplation. It is also said to allow for total recall of dreams.
